10/08/2025 – God of the Bloody Tongue (6)

Insanity Strikes

Cassandra continues to scream at the enormous, powerful presence of the God of the Bloody Tongue. She hears his voice in her head and senses that he has been waiting for her to be his new bride. She begins to feel very important and privileged at this and her screams reduce. Agatha is stunned by the presence of the God of the Bloody Tongue. She hears his voice in her head too, wanting her to join his cult and become his new High Priest.

They both become aware that this God is also known as Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos and are driven indefinitely insane.

Monty has a bout of insanity and becomes paranoid, he can trust no-one. This is all nonsense, there is no such thing as the supernatural, and whatever is happening is just an illusion or hallucination.

Tiger also has a bout of insanity and for him the red mist descend. He just wants to fight and kill. He grabs for the machine gun, pushing Eddy out of the way.

Desperate Responses

Jeziah, Eddy and Okumo are the only ones who are not immediately affected. Jeziah though, hearing Cassandra screaming, heads over to help her, but she is repulsed by him. Eddy backs away from everyone, grasping his pistol and trying to work out what to do. Okumo makes signs of protection, but keeps his wits and tries to get people to attack the cultist who is wielding fire, but no one pays any attention to him.

Tiger uses the machine gun on the dancing cultist in front of him, mowing many of them down. He continues to fire until the machine gun is empty, but when that happens he begins to snap out of his bout of insanity. Monty gets annoyed at nearby Zombie cultists and continues to attack them with his hammer, but there are three of them and they are slowly overpowering him.

Let the Child be Born

Agatha suddenly begins to speak in a loud, monstrous voice. “Let the Child be Born!” Hypatia Masters begins to make a deep, terrible scream and the being in her belly begins to pull itself out of her. Agatha then begins to head towards Hypatia.

Eddy follows her and as he gets closer, he opens fire on Hypatia and her child, injuring them both, but the thing inside her bulges more and more. Eddy continues to desperately fire at it, but it seems inhumanly powerful.

Monty is overwhelmed by the Zombie cultists attacking him and collapses. The Zombies begin to eat him.

Death of M’Weru

Tiger grabs his elephant gun and moves closer to M’weru. She is completely entranced by the presence of her God and does nothing. When Tiger opens fire, blowing off one of her legs. She screams and collapses, blood pouring from her leg. She soon dies.

Okumo takes off the pentagram necklace that he has and tries to touch Cassandra with it. Jeziah tries to stop him, but Cassandra turns towards him and he is able to touch her head with the necklace. She suddenly snaps out of her amazement and she screams, collapses and holds up her hands to block the vision of the monster above her. Jeziah tries to hit him for that, but misses.

Cassandra develops a personality flaw by her experience though. She has been offered to become the wife / Queen to a God. That clearly makes her more important than anyone else and she begins to act very aloof and superior to everyone else. She turns to Jeziah and orders him to kill her. He tells her he thinks she has just been killed, but Cassandra orders him to go and make sure.

The Gift of Death

They can see that a wave of cultists from the valley below are surging up the mountain towards them. As they do, the God of the Bloody Tongue reaches down with his enormous claws and picks up large amounts of them, throwing them high into the air. Then they fall to the ground, dead. He continues to do this, ignoring events in the cave.

Blasphemous Birth and Death

Okumo then moves over to Agatha and touches her with his necklace. This does not have the same effect, as she seems to regain her awareness, but is committed to helping Hypatia give birth to the Child of the Good of the Bloody Tongue. Okumo takes her gun though and helps Eddy in shooting Hypatia / the monster. The monster inside her shudders with the impact of the bullets, but continues to bulge outwards.

Jeziah has seen that M’Weru is dead and he turns on Hypatia’s monster child as well, but at that point Hypatia give a last, deathly scream and collapses, as the monster bursts forth from her. It is a large mass of tentacles that is shrinking and coalescing into some other form. Tiger has re-loaded his elephant gun and then he fires at the monster, blasting a hole in it that effectively kills it. It gives a frustrated, gurgling roar and collapses.

The God Departs

The God of the Blood Tongue stops killing cultists and suddenly raises his tongue to the sky, making a terrible ululation that causes everyone to hold their ears. Then its enormous body begins to dissolve, turning into a black dust that the wind blows away. They realise now what the source of the Black Wind is.

With this, the cultists are thrown into chaos. The dancing and drumming cultists that are still alive in the cave stop and collapse from exhaustion. The cultists and freed prisoners on the stairs are in disarray. Some of them have gone completely insane, others kill themselves or attack others around them. Some flee in horror, but as they do the magical stairs that appeared also disappear and they all fall down the mountain side.

Insane Responses

Tiger shots the remaining Zombies and rescues Monty from being killed. Monty snaps out of his bout of insanity, but the experience has caused him so much mental and physical shock and remains unconscious.

Tiger then decides that all the cultists need to be killed and sets about systematically making sure every cultist in the cave is killed.

Cassandra develops selective amnesia, choosing to ignore most of what has happened, although she is aware that Hypatia and M’weru are dead. She continues to behave as though she is the most important person in the world. She instructs Jeziah to take her home. He begins to escort her out of the cave, back down the path of the mountain side.

Down the Mountain

This prompts everyone else, except Tiger, to look to leave as well. Okumo asks others to help him take Monty down the mountain side. Eddy does some first aid on Monty and the big man begins to recover. He has permanent bite marks on his arms and belly. He sits for a while, but eventually gets up and heads out of the cave.

Agatha has become rather confused and lost, thinking she should stay in the cave to become the new High Priest of the God of the Bloody Tongue. Eddy tries to get her to come with them, but she resists He has to restrain her and drag her away.

Valley of Dead Cultists

Slowly they begin to head down to the valley. Tiger is last, having made sure every cultist in the cave is dead. He then gathers up all the guns and follows the others. At the bottom of the mountain, there are more than one hundred cultists lying around. Cassandra and Jeziah begin to walk through them, but Tiger draws his gun and begins to shoot every single cultist one at a time.

The others are forced to wait while he does this. When he runs out of bullets, Monty gives him his hammer and Tiger systematically smashes in the head every one of the cultists who have not been shot.

Cassandra insists on heading home and tries to walk away, but she is eventually forced to wait as well, she complains about it, but they do not know the way back without Okumo, and he waits for the others. Tiger absolutely refuses to leave until every one of them is definitely dead. They notice that there are groups from all over the world. One group is from the Penhew Foundation.

Journey Back

The sun is coming up by the time Tiger is satisfied and Okumo leads them back across the mountain range to where they left their donkeys, but they have been attacked by a mountain lion and are dead or escaped. They are able to salvage enough supplies for the journey back across the Mountains to the village where they met the Great Bundari.

Monday, 15 April 1935

The journey is slow and frustrating. They are all tired and they have to stop often. After a long but uneventful journey, they reach the village that is Okumo’s home and he arranges for them to sleep in various people’s huts. They are all a little too exhausted to care by this point.

The Great Bundari Heals

In the morning they go in to see the Great Bundari. He awakens fairly quickly, telling them that the plans of the Dark God have been thwarted – for now. He congratulates them, but notes they have been damaged mentally and physically by the experience.

He offers to help Cassandra, who is reluctant but is talked into letting him. He begins to hum some sort of chant and then grabs her head, swaying it and staring into her eyes. She is initially shocked by this, but he soon puts her into a trance. There is a long delay while he just holds Cassandra’s head in his hands. When eventually they both awaken and Cassandra seems to be a little more settled mentally. He then repeats this process with Agatha, who also awakens a little more settled.

Okumo says he would like to go with them, but he has to stay here and look after the old man. He gives the star with a burning eye necklace that he has to Agatha, telling her it will protect her. Bundari reminds Cassandra about the rattle, which he gave her, but did not use. He tells her to keep it, it may help her in the future.

Before they go, Bundari warns that the end of the world is coming, brought up by their dark enemy. They must stop his plans. He pledges to give them his spiritual protection while they are in Africa and will send them his good wishes.

They start to make arrangements to walk back to Nairobi.
