A summary of events in each session of the game.
VK, Mos, Ade and Beeker live in an apartment in an apartment block in the C4-Zone of Night City. The C4-Zone is mostly a lawless place where the poor scratch out a living as best they can. The block is run by a gang who offer protection in return for you being part of the gang and doing what you are told.
The gang respects people with skills and each of them has something to offer. VK is a former Joy Toy turned Solo, skilled with guns and wields a mean baseball bat. Mos is a Netrunner, Ade a Fixer and Beeker a MedTech. Their skills are called in when the gang needs them.
VK learns that one of his former Joy Toy friends, Cat (Cathy) Silver Cooter Hammond, has died in gruesome circumstances. Her body was found hacked, mutilated, wrapped in plastic and stuffed into a garbage can.
This upsets VK as they were close at one point. She remembers that Cat was usually quite desperate and would take on some risky clients, hanging around in one of the more dangerous parks in the C4-Zone.
She recalls that Cat was in a stormy relationship with a Rocker Boy, but cannot remember his name. She asks Mos to do some research into local Rocker Boys on the local Net and identifies Rocker Boy Spider Dave as her boyfriend, who was questioned by the Police.
Spider Dave is in a Metal band called Turbo Regret. They are known to hang out at a venue called The Pit, which is in the basement of a ruined hotel in the C4-Zone. Turbo Regret seem to be a decent local band.
VK wonders if Dave would like to employ them to find out who killed his girlfriend. He asks Ade to use her contacts to get them some tickets for Turbo Regret’s next gig at The Pit, which she does easily for the following evening.
The group stumble out of the warehouse room, the machinery behind them continuing to milk the monstrous aberration. Jules exits first, followed by Beaker carrying the wounded Mos and then Ada carrying a struggling VK. A big heavy steel security door slams closed behind them.
They emerge into an empty open area still inside the warehouse, with an odd cylindrical sunken pit, with a ladder, suggesting there was a liquid in there at some point that has left a stain on the sides.
Jules moves to the large, rolling delivery doors and manages to keep her cool and open them, with help from Beaker. As soon as she can, Jules ducks under the opening door and back into the grounds of the building. She heads back to the line of trees where they first climbed over, followed by the others.
Beaker does a quick check of Mos. He determines that the Netrunner does not need immediate attention and can be carried out of the compound. Ada is able to put VK into an arm lock that allows her to carry the Solo out, despite her struggling to go back into the warehouse.
They manage to scale the walls and get back to Jules’s car. Jules is still freaking out and shouts for them to hurry up as she is keen to escape, but she manages to wait for them.
Jules drives back to the apartment building where they are living. During the journey, VK stops struggling against Ada and begins to kiss her and tries to have sex with her. Ada reacts by punching her in the face, but VK continues to try to molest her. Ada has Beaker knock her out with a sedative, though she struggles against the drug and stays awake, drowsy.
When they reach the apartments, they stumble into Jules’s apartment and collapse, panting and trying to recover from their experiences.
Beaker gives Mos medical attention. His VR goggles have partially melted onto his face, leaving scars and discolouration. One of his eyes has been permanently damaged too.
They eventually talk about what happened and wonder what the hell that monster was. Jules shows them the footage she took of machinery starting up and the monster appearing. It looks strange, like it’s actually in their room, not just on the screen. Jules recoils and turns off the image immediately.
Jules worries that her recording agent has been tainted now. She puts it away in a cupboard.
They do not talk much more that evening, just relax, recover and eventually head off to bed. Beaker gives VK a suggestive drug to get her to calm down after she awakens from her sedative and is agitated. He then puts on Children’s TV to distract her.
They all have a troubled night sleep.
The next day the heat wave that has been hitting Night City is oppressive. It is very hot and the air conditioning is struggling.
They message Mr Jatik at Full Wilderness, advising they will be reporting in the following day, which is accepted.
Beaker continues to look after VK and realises she will need therapy, like a drug addict. He will need expensive, specialist drugs to do so. He checks the insurance policy they have and such an expense will need to be authorised by their employers, which he will raise at the meeting with Mr Jatik tomorrow.
They spend the rest of the day relaxing and recovering.
The following day they head into Full Wilderness and meet with Mr Jatik in his office. They tell him they had an awful experience at Dawn Biozyme and show him the video, having him watch it on a screen on his computer so they do not have to watch.
Mr Jatik is disappointed they have not found any sign of Peter Tait then watches the video. He is shocked and demands to know what the monster is. He is shaken and babbles for a few minutes, before composing himself.
He questions them about caused the monster to appear and the machinery. Beaker points out there were other containers with creatures in them, like the one Peter Tait sent.
He then watches the video again, struggling but amazed. So Dawn Biozyme can break down the barriers of reality and summon a creature from beyond, which they are milking and using to fuel their genetic experiments.
He asks them if they have a full sample of the milk from beyond reality, but Beaker lies and tells him no.
Beaker now asks for authorisation to pay for the therapy for VK, which is agreed. Jatik asks what is wrong with her. Beaker responds asking if he has large magnets, but he points out they are about wilderness not heavy industry. He tells them about their fibre-optics that transmits sunlight to the plants in the building.
Jatik then asks them what started the machine. They are not sure, but there is a possibility something Mos did when fighting some Black ICE could have triggered the event.
He then takes them through the whole experience and speculates whether the Black ICE triggered the machine, or if it is on a timer, or some environmental detector. He remains amazed and stunned by what they encountered.
They mention the magical book they took from the warehouse, but they have not opened it yet.
Jatik finally congratulates them, tells them they have had a good job and they have earned a rest. They should take a break and then keep looking for Peter Tait.
He warns them not to return to Dawn Biozyme and then lets them go. As they leave, Beaker sorts the cost of the therapy with the receptionists.
When they leave, they again notice the intense heat, especially after the cooling air-con of the Full Wilderness building.
