Episode Two
The monks tie the mud covered Yeti up securely, dragging it into the monastery and into one of the side rooms.
Robot Yeti
Frederick and Thaddius examine the dead Yeti and discover a flap in the chest, which opens to reveal a bowl shaped indentation which appears to be empty. One of the priests speculates that its heart is missing, it is a heartless creature - that is why it attacked. The rest of the creature seems to be smooth and inaccessible. The eyes are lights and a camera lens, the mouth some sort of speaker.
Travers says they should go and hunt the other creature down and they agree.
Krisong asks them what they have found out. He concludes this is a travesty of a Yeti, a fake Yeti sent here to cause confusion. He forbids anyone from leaving as it is dangerous.
Frederick stays examining the Yeti. Thaddius goes outside to help the monks, who have closed the gates and are looking out for Yeti.
Psi Field
Thaddius sense a vague psi power in the area but can’t locate it. He walks around the monastery and at the Pagoda at the back he feels the effect much stronger, but he is forbidden by monks from entering this sacred area. Only the Abbot may enter.
Frederick and Thaddius meet up again and discuss what to do next. Fred tries to explain more about technology and that this is more advanced than this time or even his time.
They go to lunch, leaving the Yeti guarded. They overhear talk by the guarding monks about a chirping noise by the doors. Thaddius overheard this too while sensing psi by the gate. Frederick wonders if something fell out of the Yeti’s chest during the fight.
Noises and Signals
After dinner, Frederick returns to the Yeti. Thaddius goes to the gate and asks about the noise. Many have heard it, a regular chirping. Thaddius goes to see Krisong and recruits him to search for the sound outside. They hear the noise but cannot locate its source.
Frederick is examining the Yeti with the electronic device he has, called the sonic screwdriver. It seems to detect a signal of some kind for a short time. He goes outside and ends up joining in the search, until he detects a metal item under the mud, after Thaddius sees movement there.
Fred speculates this goes in the chest of the Yeti. He wonders if the Yeti came to find it.
The Sphere
A few minutes later, the sphere comes to life, beeping madly and begins to roll towards the monastery. Thaddius tries to stop it but he’s not strong enough. It takes several monks to interpose their bodies to stop it. The sphere eventually stops beeping and goes dead. They arrange for it to be placed in a leather strap closed wooden box away from the Yeti.
Krisong discusses what has happened. They speculate that the Yeti was after the sphere. Perhaps Travers’ dead friend found a sphere and dropped it. They look for Travers, but he appears to be missing. It emerges Travers has left the monastery, telling a guard he had permission from Krisong when he did not.
Yeti Awakens
That night, while the time travellers are sleeping, the Yeti awakes and fights its way out of the monastery. By the time they are awake it is gone. They check the box where they locked the sphere in – it has been smashed apart.
Krisong deals with the wounded, but he wants someone to follow the Yeti and ask the travellers go after it and see what it does and where it goes.
Frederick and Thaddius follow it in the dark as it climbs up the mountain path. It reaches the ridge and then stops on the ridge, turning to face them.
They move closer and it does not move. Closer still, it does not answer or move when spoken to and there is no psi that Thaddius can detect.
Yeti Cave
Thaddius walks past it and it still does not move – but he encounters another one coming down the mountain. It attacks, but Thaddius gets out of the way and it joins its companion. They beep at each other then head off up the mountain. The time travellers follow and they go all the way up the mountain back to the cave where they first appeared. They find two Yeti guarding the cave entrance, neither of which are the Yeti they have followed.
They realise they are far from the Monastery in the dark at night. It is cold and there is no cover. They decide to leave, but then Thaddius senses some Psi activity here. However, they are too tired to go any further and withdraw. They are in trouble as it is cold and they are tired. They take cover in the lee of a cliff and rest, falling asleep.
Frederick awakes several hours later, feeling cold but otherwise Ok. Thaddius is groggy and does not really want to wake up. Fred helps him to get further down the mountain. When they get to the Monastery they are taken to the fire and given warm food. Thaddius has sores from the cold, while Fred is fine. They tell Krisong what they saw. He is keen to investigate this cave further.
Abbot Songsen
The Abbot Songsen then turns up and asks what has been happening. When he hears mention of the cave, he points out that is a spiritual cave and it is clear the Yeti are on a secred mission. They must not be obstructed. Krisong objects, but the Abbot insists and reminds Krisong of his vow of obedience.
Thaddius uses telesuggestion on the Abbot, asking him to speak in private. He agrees and invites Thaddius into the inner sanctum. He leaves convinced everything is fine here and when he meets with Frederick tells him this.
Frederick is confused as to why Thaddius now things everything is fine and is suspicious. Thaddius keeps repeating the Abbot is a very nice man and knows nothing.
