Leon is the son of a wealthy gunmaker, Glockner, from Saxony. He is also an inventor and has a wide knowledge about gun making. He was originally on his way to get involved in the War against the French, when he became embroiled in the plots of Devil Worshippers in the Empire.
His father would prefer that he concentrated on selling guns to the army, but Leon is determined to see the conspiracy against the Empire defeated first.
Leon has a partner of sorts, a girl called Julia who was rescued from Dark Men in her native village. They became romantically entangled and she chose to go with him on his adventures.
Gert is a weapon smith and assistant to Leonhardt. He was originally travelling with Leon to help him with his mission to sell guns to the army for the war against the French.
Like Leon, he has been drawn into the fight against Evil. He is a skilled engineer, with knowledge of chemistry and physics, as well as they mechanics of guns.
Johanna was originally a propergandist, skilled in printing, type-setting, drawing and writing. She had hoped to use her skills to aid the army in the war again France.
Like the others, she has been drawn into the fight against Devil Worshippers who want to destroy the Empire. With help from Adolphus, he has begun to learn the ways of magic and how to fight against Witchcraft.
She is also learning how to use magic to counter the forces of Evil, though she has a lot more to learn.
Bart is thief, scoundrel and a thoroughly dodge character. He was originally trying to join the army in order to escape from trouble and debts, while hoping to enrich himself along the way.
Since encountered the forces of evil that seek to destroy the Empire from within, Bart has reformed his ways - a little. He fears being judged after his death, especially once he saw a Witch's soul taken by the Devil.
His philosophy now is that is it alright to rob and steal from evil people and does not hesitate to do so. He also uses his skills of disguise, intrusion, pick pocketing and fast talking to aid the party in their quest.
Bart is not his real name and he was brought up in the Ottoman Empire as a Muslim, but he was not particularly pious. While he has a newly found respect for religion, he tends to consider most of their edicts as "guidelines".
Adolphus is a Witch Hunter and Theologist. He first encountered the others thinking they were Devil Worshippers and tried to kill them. He was badly injured in the throat during the fight, but Leon saved his life.
He learned that the others were actually innocent and eventually came to trust them. His skills and knowledge about the ways of the Devil Cults has assisted the group greatly in their fight.
He knows a lot about Witches, Warlocks, Demons and Dark Magic and is a skilled fighter. He is a fairly fanatical Protestant, but has learnt to be more tolerant of other religions over time.
Although separated from the others after their initial adventure in Bogenhafen, he subsequently tracked them down and re-joined them.
Helmut was a member of the Devil Cult in Bonn, working in the adminstration centre of the University. The party uncovered his identity and captured him, interrogating him and discovering he is a minor member of the cult.
They are able to persuade him to renounce the cult and help them defeat them. Helmut was originally very nervous but slowly he came to trust the others and has become a reliable member of the group.
When the group were reunited with Adolphus, he has helped Helmut repent his sins and lead a life of goodness.
The Professor was a powerful, though elderly, member of the Devil Cult. He is very experienced in Black Magic and Demonology, but has "retired" and is mostly used by the cult as a consultant. He was forced by the Witch Elektra to come out of retirement and help her when she began to track the party.
Heidelmann was able to summon a Kandarian demon to possess Julia, Leon's new partner, but Adolphus was able to banish the demon. The Witch was killed, but the elderly Professor was not a physical threat and they captured him.
Adolphus offered the Professor two choices, face trial and execution as a Devil Worshipper, or agree to renounce the cult and help them fight them. The elderly but cowardly man agreed to help them and has provided an address in Aachen where a senior member of the cult, the Magister Templi, is located.
Julia was originally a resident of the small town of Weissbruck, but her family were killed by Orcs and Dark men who had taken over the town. The group were able to rescue her and drive off the evil men, but Julia decided to go with them as he had no family left in the town.
She quickly became romantically with Leon and has become a quiet, behind the scenes helper of the group. She does a lot of domestic work, such as cooking and cleaning, while they do the dangerous stuff.
At one point she was captured by the Witch Elektra and Professor Heidelmann had her possessed by a Kandarian Demon. Adolphus was able to banish the demon, but since that experience, Julia has started to come out of her shell and become more assertive.
A member of the Catholic Church in Aachen, who has been investigating the Devil Cult there. She was captured while trying to infiltrate a cell of the cult and met Bart when he was briefly captured by the cult as well.
She eventually revealed she has been investigating the cult for a while and believes that the taxes levied on Catholics in Aachon is part of a conspiracy to break the Church, which has been a thorn in their side. After some initial clashes with the fiercly Protestant Adolphus, an uneasy alliance has formed been Sophia and the group.
Father Brunswick is Sophia's superior and mentor in the Catholic Church in Aachen. He has been supporting her in their investigation into the Devil cult operating in the City.

Recently told Father Brunswick to end his investigation into the Devil Cult in Aachen. It is believed this is because he is having an affair with the Graf's paramour, Emanuelle Schlagen. Somehow the Cult must have found out about this and are possibly blackmailing him?

It is believed she is having an illicit affair with Bishop Theobold Kohler.
The Graf's Champion. Adolphus challenged his position and lost, but they became friends.
Commoner made good. Flirty with women, almost sub-consciously, much to the annoyance of his fiance.
Dieter Scheidehammer's fiance and a lady at court.
Quite snobby and judgy of others, especially other women. Resents any attention given by Dieter to other women.
The Graf's personal physician. Does a good job helping the Graf's ill son.
He is Italian. Friend of Dieter Scheidehammer.
The Graf's Master of the Hunt. Doesn't have many responsibilities as the Graf currently doesn't want to go hunting.
Frenchman who has lived in Aachen most of his life. Friend of Dieter Scheidehammer.
A member of the Devil Cult in Aachen who was working at the J. Thicjsten Wine Tent. She was involved in a plot to to poisoned wine into the fountains at the end of the Carnival of Aachen.
She was discovered by the party, arrested and interrogated by Adolphus. After painful prodding with a Witch Pin, it was discovered she was not a Witch.
A man with a strange moustache who reminds Gert of the paintings of the Von Wittgenstein family, which were hanging in the castle.
He seems to be involved with the Cult in Aachen and their plan to poison the water in the fountains at the end of the Carnival of Aachen.
