Ace wants more security and wants to hire three doormen. Grant is opposed to such extra costs. They agree that Ace and one more normal security guy will stand on the door. Cost 150 Cr. The Marines given to them are three hot women, Lucy (bubble butt), Cameron (big jugs), Dru (big jugs) and a man, Berny.
The security guard is called a man called Baco and is employed from a security agency.
Grant arranges with Cheri for booze and food though she is still very upset about the guest list. She now wants none of her Society friends at this party.
Cyrus goes on a “drug run” for lighter recreational drugs for people to take. 500 Cr budget. His Streetwise knowledge gets him plenty of easy take drugs to hand around.
On the night, Grant is the host along with Cheri. Ace is on the door. Dirk is the DJ. Drent is networking. Cyrus is taking drugs and mingling.
Cyrus’s Willpower is enough to overcome his addiction to T and his body cravings begin to relent.
The marines are weak at Carousing – they mingle poorly.
One of the guests ODs on T and goes into a rage. Ace, the door man and two of the marines intervene and subdue the guy. Repeatedly beat him as he won’t calm down or relax. Ace tries to knock him out but hits too hard and he flat lines.
Ace checks with Grant what to do. Grant leaves it to him. Ace decides to dump him in the street outside the hotel, along with his hysterical girlfriend.
Two marines carry the guy out. Baco stays on door. Ace drags the panicking girlfriend out. They dump them in the street, the guy dying. One of the marines offers to do First Aid, and Ace agrees. They leave him alive.
Ace goes back to Grant and reports what happened. Grant is concerned about a guy being left for dead on his doorstep.
Ace makes a connection with a drug dealer to discuss taking over an area. This guy needs good hard people. He has pussy boys who don’t punish those who don’t pay.
The dealer’s name is Bruce Harris (“the Harasser”).
Ace gets some clues and rumours about Tempest. It comes off world but Derwyn is the hub for sales. He believes there is something from the asteroid belt too.
Grant drinks too much and gets off with a marine. Cheri initially doesn’t notice but once she does she gets furious. She gets into a cat fight with the marine, which lasts for a while.
Ace pauses for a while. Then has a male marine restrain Cheri, while he gets the female marine to back off.
Cheri tells Grant she is leaving and uses some very rich language, which is surprising from such a lady.
Grant wants someone to look after her, but Ace has gone down stairs to check if the previous OD guy has gone (he has). Drent is told to look after her. Cheri kisses Drent to say thank you and then they leave.
Grant gets a message via Vago that there is some important political news. One of the incumbent Mayor’s senior people has been taking T and has been arrested for it.
The Media want to know what Grant reaction is. Grant says he reckons the Mayor Boris Dumbleton is taking T as well. A rather outrageous accusation that makes lots of political news.
The party continues late into the night. Some guests leave or are removed because they are hopelessly smashed.
Grant makes friends with an associate of Mr Lungru, a rival and business partner of Popara Hunt. He is invited to visit Mr Lungru to discuss business and supporting his political bid. Grant agrees.
Nearer to the morning, things wrap up. Ace thanks the Marines and the doorman and offers them a taxi home, which they are grateful for. Ace then reviews the video footage.
Drent returns, telling him Cheri is on a shuttle back to Dyvers.
Zonnos messages Grant. Popara wants to meet him, he’s in trouble so get here. He’s very rude.
Grant contacts Vago to check if this is correct. Vago has to check. Vago confirms this is correct, though Zonnos was supposed to tell Vago, not contact Grant directly.
The party arrange a quick de-brief before the Popara meeting. Ace reports a rape happened at the party, a girl who was zoned out on drugs.
Ace reveals his contact with drug dealers and has a chance to become a drug dealer in the City.
Drent is left behind checking the video footage while the rest go to the DMC headquarters to meet Popara.
The party arrive bickering like children about events at the party and they are all hung over. They encounter Zonnos in the lobby of the DMC, who tells them to follow him, but Grant insists they stay where they are until they get invited up. Zonnos points out he is the Executive Vice-President and he is inviting them up, move it.
Grant does not move until Vago turns up, and escorts them up stairs to the Board Room, where an important meeting is going on and they will have to wait until it is complete.
Eventually Zonnos, Mika and a number of DMC executives leave the Board Room, talking about corporate issues. The party are invited into the Board Room, where Popara is still seated, catching a quick lunch.
He tells them the current Mayor of Telcos is politically dead and Grant really should start a campaign proper now. However, Popara quickly becomes ill and suddenly goes into convulsions, clearly in terrible distress. The crew are rather taken aback. Cyrus moves to give medical help and the rest call for help as best they can. Popara vomits up blood, makes a loud death rattle and collapses.
Zonnos quickly bursts into the room and says “They’ve killed my father. Arrest them!”
