Early CHILL Games
I first started running Chill in the late 1980s with characters like Alex Neon, Charles Hopkins, Chris Rolson and Victor Lazlo. Many of those stories are lost to poor memories and lack of any records, but they were good times when I learnt how to run horror games. In the 1990s, the stories settled down a little into the SAVE Campaign.
"New" Campaign
A campaign ran in the mid 1990s at a lower power level after the previous campaign. It featured characters such as Professor Carter, Alex Cross, Adam Strange, John Blair and Dr Edward James Blake. SAVE did not feature in this game, in an attempt to move away from dependence on them and scale down the campaign.
This campaign was less successful than previous, I recall few stories from this campaign and it suffered from lack of a theme. It was also set in an alternative time line where there was no SAVE.
The "Ian Smith Group" Campaign
A campaign ran in the later 1990s with a different player group. Characters like Ian Smith, Elizabeth Thompson and Julian Usher featured.
This campaign involved the following stories:
- The Dark Angel
- Charnel House (Coyote)
- The Wells of Hell (Crab Boy)
- Relics
- The Wyrm (Shillingham)
- The Curse of Chaugnar Faugn
Forgotten Games
I have copies of very old character sheets where I don't even recognise the character names, let alone the adventures they were in. I ran a campaign for some friends from University, but I have lost any records of the characters they had or stories I ran for them.
I did not run much Chill between around 2010 and 2023 except the occasional re-run of old stories for new players. For example, the Wyrm / Shillingham adventure in 2012. I did run a horror live-roleplaying game called Dark Secret for a few years between 2005 and 2008.
